Arris, Algeria....(contributed by Um Djamel)

While touring the area, we stopped at this village for something to eat - not realising, because of Eid celebrations, there was nothing open (not that there looked as if there was anywhere to open!). When my husband asked a young man where we could get some food, he asked us to follow him. Without a second thought, we followed him along a narrow path up a hill and he took us into his home. He introduced us to his mum who disappeared quickly into another room and brought back, just as quickly, a veritable feast of cous cous with lamb, salad and fresh fruit. We left with a glow after experiencing a true act of kindness which can only come from a good heart. The memory of this experience has never left me and was a major step in strengthening my faith.

خلال الجولة توقفنا في القرية لتناول شيء من الطعام، غاب عن إدراكي أننا في أيام عيد - فلم يكن هناك محل واحد مفتوح، وعندما سأل زوجي شاب من أين نحصل على بعض الطعام، طلب منه اتباعه ، ومن دون تفكير في الموضوع لحظة واحدة اتبعناه في طريق ضيق ومرتفع على هضبة حتى وصلنا إلى بيته.

قدمنا إلى أمه التي اختفت عنا مباشرة لتحضر بنفس السرعة طبق الكسكس بلحم الضأن مع السلطة والفواكه الطازجة.

ترك الحدث فينا مشاعر متقدة بعدما جربنا عملا حقيقيا للطيبة ، حركة لا تأتي إلا من قلب طيب. ذاكرتي لم تنس مثل هذه التجربة التي عمقت وقوت إيماني.

 أريس : قرية من قرى مدينة باتنة؛ المدينة التي تقع في شرق الجزائر وتبعد عن العاصمة بحوالى  كم450 ، وأريس تقع على سفوح سلسلة جبال الأوراس التي انطلقت منها ثورة التحرير سنة 1954.
